Irish names and places are always pronounced wrongly, but it never bothers most of us, we’re used to it now. I had to laugh at the racing commentator a few years ago calling the races from Navan, he pronounced it Nah-van instead of Nav-an. There are hundreds of them mispronounced, but then again I get an awful lot very wrong myself, even the Irish ones so I can't complain.Re: Got to have a rant..
In Derbyshire there is Calver, pronounced "Carver"
