I'd love to hear about them.
I've mentioned it elsewhere but once I retired I gave up my previous volunteering activities to join a couple of seniors' organisations. One is more of a social group of which I am now secretary where my role is mainly admin and minute taking however I do organise some of the activities such as monthly bus trips and weekly computer/tech classes.
The other is more of a political lobby umbrella group which represents other groups at a regional level again I am secretary and also treasurer, this group has no social activities other than an annual lunch but organises (sometimes with other groups) lobbying activities with state and federal pollies as well as on-the-street protests - the latest was against the privatisation of a local hospital's services - a fight we won.
They keep me pretty busy but with time for holidays and travel. I enjoy it and will keep doing it until I don't.
I am also a member of a couple of registered clubs but I don't think they are quite what you mean. I only go to them for a drink, a meal and a chat with friends (sadly a diminishing mob)
