The Porn Scammer Tries Again!
It's quite a while since I had one of those scam emails where the sender claims to have filmed me doing naughty things, in front of my PC, and threatens to send copies to all my friends unless I pay up a lot of bit coins.
Anyway, this time he told me my email address and my active password, as proof of how clever he was.
Trouble is, it was a password which I haven't used for 10 or 15 years.
That puts a date on when he must have PWNED my email address and password.
The "haveibeenpwned" website told me, long ago, that my password/email address had been hit and, as a result, i cleared out that email address and password from then.
When firms stop trading, it's reasonable to assume that some employee might be tempted to sell personal data on.
The other thing is, I'd have known if I'd been doing what he claimed to have filmed, even if there was, then, no camera on any of my PCs.
Reason for posting this?
Just a reminder that it is well worth looking to see if anyone has "hit" your email address.
