Tempers frayed

I went to the supermarket late yesterday...there.was hardly anyone there so it was a good choice to go late...however when I got to the checkout the man in front of me was having words with the checkout lady.

He was upset that more announcements were not being made over the tannoy about customers distancing...the checkout woman was telling him they were going to from next week every 10 minutes but the chap didn't seem to listen. He was obviously very anxious and I wished they would just get him through quickly and let him leave. In the end he got so annoyed they asked him to leave without putting his shopping through and security escorted him out.

I know he was being unreasonable but I felt so sorry for him. It had all got a bit too much....I wish the staff had been more considerate and had just got him through quickly but it got out of hand.

I wanted to intervene but I didn't for fear I would get the same treatment....have to admit I feel bad about it now.....poor man.

Re: Tempers frayed

Sorry I wanted to add....Tempers are getting frayed and I know front line staff such as checkout operators are vulnerable but ...I did feel they made too much of the situation and maybe common sense should have been applied..

This many weeks in, it should not be necessary to be reminding folks to distance, if it ain't second nature now, it never will be.

Hi

Frontline staff are most at risk, I can quite understand their frustration with idiots as they have to go home to their families.

They are very worried and we should respect that.

These are not normal times, we rely on them, if they all self isolated we would starve to death.

I always socially distance and say thank you to the supermarket checkout ladies.

I also keep clear of the supermarket pickers and say thank you to them.

They are on minimal wages and deserve to be respected and be thanked.

We rely on them and they are always very happy when we say thank you.

They have to deal with absolute prats who do not socially distance and put them at risk.

I think they do a great job.

Tesco have a one way system up and down the aisles. On Friday while I was shopping- there was a woman who was not taking a blind bit of notice of this, she was approached by a member of staff and asked to abide by the rules of the store. The woman gave the assistant such a mouthful of abuse.
There was no excuse for this behaviour.Don't know what happened afterwards.

Re: Tempers frayed

It's not surprising tempers are getting frayed in these strange times maybe the man in question was in the vulnerable category and really scared.

I get cross when I take Chloe out down our narrow lane, when I see someone coming one of the many new people who are walking in my tiny hamlet I pick Chloe up and climb onto the bank and some of them make no effort to keep their distance and walk in the middle of the lane.

Such objectionable people frequently have very inadequate genitalia, especially men.

Just try to keep that in mind,.

Maybe let the checkout person know when it's your turn.

What I think is funny is being asked if I was over 18 in some shops. Should I be pleased or annoyed being 75 years old, or are the assistants just blind?

Re: Tempers frayed

Hi

We are where we are.

The vast majority of us are following the rules and socially distancing

Some are not, they are divided into two groups.

Those with mental health problems who simply do not understand.

Nice people and I can excuse them, they simply do not understand what is going on.

Jacob is Autistic, normality is important to him.

He cannot understand why he he cannot come to mine every week, have a McDonald and mess around with my car.

The others are those who choose not to, the druggie next door, the prats who spit on Police Officers and Nurses..

One I have sympathy for, the others I do not.
