Re: gas and electric bill

I pay £94 a month with EDF and I have a 3 bed semi. The prices are set to rise in December though. Hope this helps a bit

Re: gas and electric bill

At present we pay £84 a month direct debit, it's a 3 bedroomed house, but there are only 2 of us in it.
We have just had a letter from Scottish Power informing us that the prices are going up, and they have calculated that next year we will pay £582 for gas, and £393 for electric.
But reckoning that up, I have paid more than that this year, at the old prices, so they must owe me some money, but haven't offered me a rebate.

We have been with EON for years and they were charging us £114 a month DD, but we have just switched to Scottish Power, who have calculated £96 a month. Seems optomistic but we shall no doubt see how accurate the sums were this time next year....watch this space....

Re: gas and electric bill

I have a 3 bed house all electric no gas or other form of heating. I joined OVO energy last December.

I use around £1,100 worth of energy a year and I pay £100 a month to OVO energy. I am going into the winter with a £500 surplus for which they pay me 3%. This surplus should see me through the winter without the need to increase my payments.

This was my best option on the Which? price comparison site last years and I have just checked again and they are still my best option even though there will be a price rise in December.

Re: gas and electric bill

I pay around £120 a month now for both gas and electric since I switched to Scottish Power, and I'm in credit to the tune of £200+.

I have a three-bedroomed house in the middle of three, but if you're in a detached house, you've nobody next door to keep you warmer.

Re: gas and electric bill

Ironically, gas from the North sea comes ashore not far from here, but it's not available in most rural areas. Most people use oil or LPG and a few use electricity. All are expensive. I suppose I use about £1600 - £1700 a year for everything which is a lot.. BUT... council tax at about £1300 pa is low compared to what I paid in Hampshire for a smaller house, especially since it includes water & sewage too. So overall the cost of 'running' the house is about the same.

Re: gas and electric bill

depends on age of house, size of rooms and how well it's insulated. I'm sure I used to pay more for electric than gas but now it seems other way round.
