My advice to my grandchildren now is always be true to yourself and never try to be something you are not.
I told my children the same thing and the other day my daughter reminded me of that on the day before her birthday.
She said "Dad, you remember what you told me about that being true to myself stuff?" "You were right and I was wrong; when I tried to be something or do something I wasn't quite sure of it always, always went wrong!"
She's 37 now and I'm not being smug when I say that I'm glad she took my advice - eventually - but I am rather proud of her realising that I wasn't just waffling all those years ago and my experiences did help her. Part of the job of Dad I think. stevmk2
