Driving licence renewal on line? never

Just had a letter for my driving licence renewal for of 70.

Tried on line at first and what a complete balls up attempting to do it this way. irst you have do a security application with Experian who ask loads of questions like what you spend on gas/electricity in the last account. They don't even give a chance to put in your own but a list which is irrevelant. Then the same asking for bank details -driving licence number-passport no almost how big a bum you have. That if answered correctly by now you have timed out, so have to go through it all again. That is before even getting to fill out the renewal driving form application regarding your DR -eye condition- eye specialist- hospital and all names and addresses.

My consultant left to go private well after I saw him so that information is no use to them

So back to form filling which is relative to getting the licence, and not stupid who are you and are you sure you are actually who you say you are on the online application you have to go through first.

Are you sure you were on the proper DVLA.GOV site RS, my wife's application was an absolute doddle and I'm sure she didn't require any of that!

Mine was the same Barry - no problem at all and very easy to do.

That's what I wondered, Barry.

Re: Driving licence renewal on line? never

this was from the DVLA and on their form if you wanted to do it on line. As I have glaucoma in both eyes (on their records of me) and had their eyesight test to get my licence back after the operation when told to surrender it
So I might have to have another one with Spec Savers first. Possibly you both have not had to do this

Did you have one of these being over 70 yrs old????

Our Motor Vehicles Dept. encourages residents of New York state to apply online. Opticians mail your annual vision tests to the Dept, so there is hardly anything to filling out the application.
It saves you standing in line for hours......(or, queues to you Brits )

Online has been my preferred method for the last few years. Couldn't have been easier. As Barry said, an absolute doddle.

Re: Driving licence renewal on line? never

Not if you have a medical eye condition, it is not the usual straight forward one you are all on about. see the photo I posted. I have to renew it every 3 years

EZ Rider- your wife Omah- and the others,

I have to ask what eye surgery operations have you had apart from cataracts possibly.

Remember I had to have a "Stent" inserted behind one eye which meant it being removed from its socket by a specialist eye surgeon. I was also ordered to surrender my driving licence and had to reapply and take a DVLA eye test to get int back 18 months later.
This is all on my record at the DVLA

If this doesn't apply to you then things may well be easier

RS you didn’t mention it was a special driving licence you were trying to renew in your first post, that is why you received the replies above.
