Re: Laser Attack

Laser pointers have many uses other than being pointers as a very low cost source of coherent light, usually around 690 nm. The power of the source is very low in the case of a bog standard pointer but non-bog standard are all to easy to buy or even bodge from the laser diodes in computer PC read-write CD drives. Here is how to do it ---- or perhaps not!

Todger is right. The "old" bog standard laser pointer was just about powerful enough to point at things about 50ft away. Very useful during presentations too, they were. I know, I had one but, boy, did it eat up batteries. The cheapo ones that used to be on sale in markets/car boots/etc were really high powered Chinese pointers that could blind people at vast distances. I seem to remember one being pointed at the moon and it's reflection being recorded for a TV programme - you couldn't do that with an older type.

Re: Laser Attack

Some while ago on one of the police program. The police helicopter got done with a laser pointer. Bad move. As they easily found the culprit who was in a garden with friends. The police were directed to the house, and “You are nicked”.

Good job too MJ!
Surely the power of the ones on general sale should be limited,
and anything more powerful should be licensed??
Simples!!

That is the case but there's more ways to kill a cat than kicking it up the arse as HM The Queen is fond of saying.
