Re: Patchy lawn.
I'm guessing its patchy because of the hot dry weather earlier,if so drought tolerant seed is wanted, you'd be not alone in this but leather jackets's,larvae of the cranefly can also do it.Re: Patchy lawn.
My lawn looked pretty dead a few weeks ago. So I sprinkled some weed and feed pellets on it and within a week it had pretty much recovered.Re: Patchy lawn.
I am always patching bits of my lawn because the dogs wee kills it unless I pour water on it immediately to dilute it.Re: Patchy lawn.
Re: Patchy lawn.
Any general purpose lawn seed will be sufficient. Here's what I would do. Lightly rake the bare soil until you have a fine tilth with no weeds debri, or stones. Sprinkle some seeds and water using a mist spray. Using a watering can will simply wash the seeds away. Grass seeds need light, heat and moisture to germinate so keep the area damp at all times. Don't forget to keep the birds off as already suggested.
