Re: Sunbathing

I tan really easily even when sitting in the shade, so that's what I tend to do most of the time and just lie in the sun for ten minutes or so with cream on. My face and hands are always darker than the rest of me the whole year round.

Today, I had the sound of water trickling over the pond waterfall and the sound of birds, could have stayed there all day.

Re: Sunbathing

I am too vain to sunbathe as l don’t want wrinkles.
I have seen what has happened to my sister’s skin who lives in Spain..... tramlines!

I would rather be pale and smooth skinned!

Re: Sunbathing

I don't mind being out in the sun (although not for long) but I don't sunbathe. I need to be active if I'm outside. Even just walking around.

Re: Sunbathing

I will never forget the time when I was admitted to hospital as a young person.

I had the most beautiful tan...then the doctors had to lift up my nightie.....you should have seen their faces when they saw my “ Lily White Legs” and I mean “ Lily White”...remember it to this day....😂🤣😅

Re: Sunbathing

I spent my early childhood in Africa and tan easily. In fact when I returned to the UK and went to school I was subjected to some pretty harsh racial abuse............not that anyone called it that in those days. I tan quite well and love the feel of warm air on my skin. My intentions are good and I always have suncream ready to use, but generally forget to use it.

Re: Sunbathing

I don't sunbathe because for one thing, I simply cannot stand lying out in the sun doing nothing. I get far too fidgety. Yes, I could read a book, but that would involve sitting up and then if I got a tan, I'd have a stripy neck where all the folds are

But the biggest reason I don't sunbathe is that I've seen the effects of it, older people with skin like leather or, worse, with scars where malignant melanoma have been surgically removed. They're the lucky ones who've lived to tell the tale of MM. Many are not so lucky.

So no, I stay out of the sun these days.

Re: Sunbathing

Well seeing you asked Dex...The power of the Australian sun is not something that some visitors from colder places educate themselves on adequately before they jump into it, spend too long in it and end up in a hospital burns ward. It's the same with where they swim and where they decide to drive to without adequate preparation or prior knowledge of the "inhabitants"..and I'm not talking about our first nations people. ..Not to mention skin cancer.
