Re: Energy Switching

British Gas seems to work for us. We are on their fix or fall tariff.

Re: Energy Switching

Thanks for all the replies. Decision now made to stay with a one year fixed contract.
I was advised to take the one year, add 7.5% and compare to the two year; add another 7.5% and compare to the three year. Comparison shows the one year is far cheaper.

In a recent Which? survey, Bulb came 6= but Scottish Power came 26=, along with British Gas.

I'm with Flow (a subsidiary of the Co-op) which came 2nd.

I know I'm paying too much with e-on but having had hassles in the past with
online suppliers only want a quarterly paper bill.
Any recommendations please?

Re: Energy Switching

In July, l changed from Scottish Power who l had been with for years, to Avro.

I really don’t know why these energy companies don’t offer their loyal customers a better deal. Instead, they force the customer to leave as they won’t budge on their prices.

Doesn’t seem good business to me!

Surely that is not correct? I would have thought that at the most they might have to change the SIM card in the meter so it can phone home but even then I would have thought they would just transfer ownership of the SIM.

The meters themselves would be made to some kind of programmable standard.

I found this about the UK system so you are partly right:

"Until 2018, the vast majority of smart meters being installed were "first generation" SMETS1 types. If a user of one of these meters switches electricity supplier, the meter’s smart functions are lost, and it must be read manually.

SMETS2 meters allow easy switching and better remote reading, but as of February 2018 only 450 had been installed (80 in households); by June 2018 over 1,000 had been installed,[66] increasing to 2,000 in August.[64]

SMETS1 meters are not allowed to be installed after 13 January 2019.[67]"
Sounds like another stuff up!
