Re: Delicate flower

It's classed as a weed. Hedge Bindweed. When we were kids we used to squeeze the bottoms of the flowers & they'd shoot off the stems. It is very invasive, spreads like mad choking other plants. I have a lot in my garden because I am no gardener.

Re: Delicate flower

I really hope I'm wrong, but they and some of the leaves behind them look somewhat similar to the knotweed that were found in my parents house when we were trying to sell it, and which cost us £15k to pay for systematic removeal and another £90k loss in house value.

Really hope I'm wrong!!!!

A common childhood pastime in the UK is to 'pop' the flowers from the sepals while chanting "Granny, granny — pop out of bed".

Do you know if it ever lead to anyone's Granny popping out of bed? Many "innocent" children's rhymes turn out to have dark or sinister origins. Maybe this one had its roots in sorcery?

Re: Delicate flower

Bindweed pushes itself through the fence at the bottom of our garden. It grows so fast that I’m forever pulling it out.
