Since we seem to be having elections every 2 years, I guess that they can't rely on use forgetting the rubbish they came out with last time. Nor is there any chance of the pros and cons of any policies actually working their way through for us to determine their efficacy.

For example the Tories policy of promising to build 180,000 affordable houses in the 2015 election, with the actual number built = Zero.

On this side of the pond we have our own election disaster. The problem is that we may do it again to see if it was really as bad as we thought the first time.

I have been in America during an election campaign and I know how nasty it all gets.
