Usually our summers last for 5 or 6 days and then it absolutely lashes down and turns cold again.
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts

Re: A northern summer

36 on my patio today too hot for me out there.

When it is over 25 I get up early and do some jobs, the humidity and heat means I can't do a lot of physical activity in the day time but will work in the garden this evening before watering the plants.

Re: A northern summer

It is a balmy 23 degrees here. It’s perfect outside.
I’m not sure how to compare a northern summer.
We now live in a different gardening zone. We were in a zone 4/5 but are now more of a 3/4 zone so it’s cooler and I LOVE it. Then again we also have air conditioning and an air exchanger in our house which makes it heavenly regardless.

Another week of sunshine. It's still 30C at 19.00 this evening. It's TOO hot! I'll put the sprinkler on in a few places after the sunshine stops shining.

I don't mind the idea of sitting out in the sun for 5 minutes before skin cancer sets in but mowing and watering?

I run a very Darwinian garden, if a plant survives it stays so it never gets watered and mowing is kept to a minimum, when my grandkids get lost on the lawn I get the mower out.

Mind you it is winter here so no chance of that it only got up to a chilly 17' today so nothing is growing.
