Shrove Tuesday / Ash Wednesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday .
I had completely forgotten.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday .
We used to go to church to receive the ashes on our foreheads .

Muddy, l hadn’t forgotten as when l bought some lemons last week, l realised it must be imminent.

I did look on here earlier to see if anyone had started a thread but no one had, until now!

I think it was more popular years ago when people had pancake races.

I have got to think what l am giving up for Lent now!

I found pancakes were more popular when the children were still home. Mr M doesn't like them so I won't make them just for myself

Mags, l always used to make them on Shrove Tuesday for my family too.
I used to put a pair of knickers on my head to keep the pancake frying fumes off my hair!

For me, l prefer the little scotch pancakes, so l might make some later.

When l was with my ex partner, l used to make scotch pancakes to go with his full English breakfast. He loved them but l didn’t fancy them with that meal. Yuk!

Oh, after putting my children to bed and sometimes they’d shout down, ‘I can’t sleep, l am hungry’. I would make loads of normal pancakes.
They would soon shut up after eating those!
