My sympathies/empathies about the sink Mags - we had that problem a few months back. Makes you count your blessings, doesn't it? You still have the 'luxuries' (to a huge proportion of the world) of hot and cold running water and gas and electricity, yet your world seems turned upside sown because you lose the facility to dispose of that water easily. I remember my joy at being able to watch water disappearing down the plug

I felt exactly the same DM ....... I was also elated by the sound of the washing machine emptying! 
Glad you managed to get your fixed too!
