What would happen?

Found this and thought I would share it.

Re: What would happen?

I remember that there was a series some years back which chronicled the changes to the planet after humans had disappeared. They showed I year.. 5 years .. 20 years etc, the melt down of nuclear power plants and collapse of dams was dramatic.

I missed that. What do you think would happen?

Nature would find a way to overcome the long term problems we are creating. I would imagine one of our close relations in the ape world would eventually make the leap as we did long ago. Let’s hope they are an improvement on us.

Re: What would happen?

Well the series showed a pristine planet that had reverted to its true state after about 5000 years or so the planet doesn’t actually need us, we are in fact a parasitic species we take from the host and there is nothing beneficial given back.

My thoughts exactly. There’s no doubt we will learn the hard way.

Like a virus we will no doubt jump to a new host, move on from this planet to others...that’s if we don’t destroy ourself before that happens.

Re: What would happen?

I saw that series also and found it both fascinating and humbling.

Man has often stated that we will destroy the earth but this series showed us that Mother Earth has been around for billions of years and would literally shake us off like we were parasites but we are more likely to make ourselves extinct merely from our own ignorance and greed.

It shows that humans are just another species that evolved, matured and expired just like many other species on the planet.
For the most part we are a parasitic species that takes from its host and doesn’t give back.

It was an interesting series. Unfortunately I can’t watch all this video due to data limitations but it would be something I’d be interested in.

Re: What would happen?

I think nature is going to help us jump host, shrug us off by making the planet difficult to live on...earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms etc which along with our own manmade disasters might provide the tipping point that means we will have to leave the planet......well the rich ones anyway

I agree. I don't think humans will destroy the Earth just themselves. The Earth will be destroyed when it is finally consumed by the sun.
