All the effort becomes worthwhile.

This morning I picked 2lb 12oz of tomatoes, half a bucket of runner beans, 1lb of blackberries, one heading broccoli and a few sticks of rhubarb. How much would that little lot have cost in Tesco?

Well done Alan. If/when we can move it's what we are looking forward to doing, we have tried here but the cats just ruin everything. Our own garden and growing our own is what we are looking forward to doing.

My son made some marrow rum out of one of his marrows. I don't know the recipe but I would guess you could Google it.

We've still got 6 cabbages in the garden, loads of spuds plus about a kilo of Duke of York first earlies, all our tomatoes 'cos they still haven't ripened plus our carrots & parsnips coming long nicely for October. stevmk2

Went to water greenhouse stuff...one tomato just starting to redden. Maybe when I get back Friday there will be some more.

Picked some broad beans and peas...don't want to lose them to (human) predators.

Re: All the effort becomes worthwhile.

Yes, it really is all worthwhile.
And not just for the savings.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, beats home-grown produce!
We're still only getting strawberries, but some tomatoes are starting to show signs of redness. And everything else is growing well.
I can't wait to have fresh peas from the pod - it's the only way to have 'em!
