A fine locomotive, I can remember well cycling to Retford on a Saturday morning to watch the streaks come through, the excitement was palpable amongst us schoolboys, who had paid our 2d. and virtually filled the platform leaving little space for any paying passengers.. oh happy days..

Saw Bittern come through Hitchin a few months back, rattling like a bag of hammers, don't think I will see her in steam again, can take 15 years for a full refit.
