Lisbon followed Maastricht and finally centralised the EU as a legal identity and had the effect of substantially removing power from each member state and vesting it in effect into the corrupt undemocratic European Commission. Denmark made a fuss about this which is how article 50 was incorporated and a bloody good job it was.

It changed the game and made each member state subservient to the European Commission which has the absolute whip hand over the candidly pathetic European Parliament, a paper tiger if ever there was.

The EU is a dictatorship with many unquestionably Stalinist objectives.

Like I said, it's changed the boundaries of its original purpose (or conveniently reinterpreted) in order to gain autonomy as a superstate to counter the US, China etc. Post-war the idea was that it would be a US puppet, which it was. I guess being a US puppet is preferable. You prefer an illusion of freedom?

But I'm still trying to work out the link to marxism.

"Stalinist" are you sure you meant to use that term? Care to expand?

Re: Post election backlash

So it's both marxist and stalinist? Are the two compatible?

Doesn't change the fact that European unity was all part of europe being a post-war US capitalist puppet. Whatever has happened in recent decades hasn't changed the origin.

In terms of the protests most remain voters have nothing in common with Marxists. There are likely to be just as many marxists against the EU as may want to seize control of it. Once you have any form of political and economic unity various extreme factions will want to control it. The EU will be more vulnerable to this because it has so much democracy rather than so little.

Looks that way, there were others, one in Scotland on news.
