Cottage pie ?

Where is that recipe someone posted for cottage pie .
Ie mince with mash .

I confess I am not a lover of this dish but perhaps it’s the way I cook it !

I have tried various recipes but they all taste the same to me .

If it were only a little tastier it would be a handy staple to freeze .

Re: Cottage pie ?

Try it using corned beef instead of mince. I think it's much tastier.

I add a small pinch of sweet chillie powder and a dash of Worcester Sauce to my mince to spice it up a bit, Muddy ...

Re: Cottage pie ?

I made this one the other day which was really tasty.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/c...ttagepie_90765

I added paprika and a fair bit of wine. I don't bother with browning the meat first and adding back later. I brown it in the pot after the veg are softened. I'm sure adding some crispy bacon rashers would liven it up too. Someone suggested adding a teaspoon of mustard to the mash.

Re: Cottage pie ?

In mine, I cook the red onion and mince together until they are soft and the mice has been sealed. I then add peas, mushrooms, sweet corn, sliced carrots, red wine and stock. Cook on a low heat for about 20 minutes. Transfer to a casserole dish and make the mash. Maris Piper for me - when cooked, add butter , milk and salt. Spread over the mince mixture and bake or grill for about another 15-20 minutes. Serve with cabbage or veg of your choice.
