Re: Surgeon suspended

I agree someone else must have seen what he did! I wonder how it would have affected the patient, like a scar I expect!

Re: Surgeon suspended

They caught this one by chance but how many more "victims" are there and is it only the one surgeon that has done it?

Re: Surgeon suspended

It just shows the level of respect that some members of the medical profession have towards their patients - they can't even afford them some dignity. If this man is reinstated it will be one of the biggest travesties the medical profession could inflict on unsuspecting people.

Thank goodness another doctor reported him - at least it shows that some of them do have respect for their patients and do value a patient's dignity.

I think that bothers me just as much. In an operating room, there won't be fewer than 5 or 6 people - why did they keep quiet?

Then again, you think of what those theatre staff do sanction, I suppose this is small fry by comparison

Re: Surgeon suspended

Makes you also wonder if this was the first time he'd done anything like this?

Should be suspended by his Buster Browns from the nearest lamp post.

Re: Surgeon suspended

Is the patient OK? Was any harm actually done?

As the ex-Python Dr. Graham Chapman said in his autobiography, Never trust a doctor - after all they're only ex-medical students.

Re: Surgeon suspended

Think this was a liver transplant op which might explain why no body say it.

Re: Surgeon suspended

"A doctor has been suspended over allegations he "branded" his initials on to a patient's liver.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust confirmed it is investigating the claims made against a surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The letters were reportedly found by a colleague during a routine operation.

The trust said the surgeon had been suspended until an internal investigation is completed"

So nothing has been proven yet? ...but he has already been 'hung, drawn and quartered'

If the allegations are subsequently proven, then he should be struck off...but untill then, he, as anyone is in British law, innocent until proven guilty.
