My clock has just stopped at 22.11, and the batteries are out in the locked shed, I'm not going out for any at this hour, could this be an omen? I was also introduced to my grandsons mate today, his name is Damien. (Shudder)

I am concerned for you dear boy, you say your clock has stopped at 22.11 and yet your post reads 22.59.
You appear to have lost 48 minutes, it's probably nothing to worry about .

Nah - forty eight minutes is chicken feed - I lose whole days and even lost a week once - comes naturally in your seventies.
