Swarm

Why all the bother about David Cameron using the word swarm to describe the migrant activity?.
According to the Free Dictionary on line, among the descriptions of the word are:

1. An aggregation of persons or animals, especially when in turmoil, or moving in mass.

2. To move or gather in large numbers - as shoppers have swarmed into the mall.

I think his use of the word describes the situation perfectly.

As a firm advocate & supporter of Funk & Wagnalls (est.1875) esteemed dictionary, I think OS is correct.

Could not agree more OS, it just goes to show you how simply out of touch the Labour left are with the worried people in this country who are looking for answers and solutions to the worse problem this country has encountered for many years, yet what do we get, pathetic political point scoring attempts by a party that only seems to care more about the immigrants being "highly insulted" by the Tories because Call me Dave used the word "Swarm" in his speech about the hell that is being caused both in Calais and in Kent.
Get back in the cupboard you ridiculous embarrassing spent party. If that is the best solution you can come up with, say nothing at all !!!

Re: Swarm

One of the problems are charities helping out by giving food etc to the camps. I thought charities were to help people not encourage to break the law

Re: Swarm

If charities didn't give then these illegal immigrants would not have any means of staying, so yes indirectly they are breaking the law before or after the act

Re: Swarm

So why aren't the Charities arrested, the food confiscated and the illegals left to starve ?

The Labour Party stopped being "left" decades ago. Even the Tory press's new Satan, Jeremy Corbyn is right wing compared with Labour giants of the past. Their natural constituency was always the British working class, but they have betrayed that class so thoroughly time and time again, that they have lost almost all of its support, which is why they were slaughtered by the Tories at the last election. They now have only three sections of the population to depend upon for votes. 1. The tiny, but influential, "Hampstead" liberal left loveys, who support mass immigration ,(lots of cheap servants and cleaners), and every anti-ism that they can think of; 2. The welfare dependent poor; and 3. By far the largest source of votes, immigrants. Labour feels that immigrants should have a sense of gratitude towards Labour as they were the architects of the mass immigration of recent years.
Their offence at Cameron's words is a transparent part of this policy - Look at us, we are defending immigrants - Vote for us!

Re: Swarm

The Tories slaughtered nobody at 36.9% of the votes cast. They have no mandate from 63.1% of voters. The whole system of British elections here throws up minority governments unrepresentative of the views of those who bother to vote (the non-voters deserve what they get). Still since we voted against changing the system only those who did vote for change can say " I told you so". As for immigrants British history is full of them.
