I actually measure out the recommended daily amount and tbh, I wouldn't use that much cooking for 3

Its the hidden salt that sneaks up on us, the amount in a shop bought loaf for example. I cook from scratch and have very minimal amounts of processed food, a couple of slices of bread a week, a sausage, dollop of ketchup etc

So yes I add a pinch of salt to veg whilst cooking. Potatoes are horrible enough as it is, salt free ones would be dire in my book

Yes if you eat a lot of processed food then it's likely you are overdosing on salt. But these days many manufacturers have cut back on added salt.

A bag of chips is a waste of time unless you douse with vinegar and give the salt pot a good work out over the top of them

I think many vegetables which are as fresh as possible and steamed don't need salt to give them flavour.
One reason why so much salt is used in processed food is it is of poor quality and flavourless and salt both adds flavour and extends the shelf life.
