If the money markets take a view that we have defaulted our debts will be junk bond status and we will be paying a mint in Interest on our huge debts.
We would also be seen as a bad actor and we would kiss goodbye to the prospect of any free trade deals with the EU and most likely the rest of the world too

Hi

We have agreed a formula for calculating what we owe them and what they owe us.

I would hope that our bean counters have been equal to theirs.

Even if I did know how much and what for I would have no idea as to whether or not it is a reasonable sum.

Accountancy has always been a dark art to me.

It's a shame that our bean counters haven't thought to publish their calculations.

But then, why should they? The EU haven't published their accounts for years from what I've heard.

Claim: The European Union is so corrupt that the European Court of Auditors has not signed off its accounts for 20 years.

Reality Check verdict: The Court of Auditors has signed the EU accounts every year since 2007, while pointing out that EU countries, once they receive the EU funds, misuse about 4.4% of the total budget.
