Every worker pays into funding the NHS during their working lives. I personally worked 52 years full time in order to gain care from the NHS in my hours of need. Nothing is ever truly free gumbud. Someone, somewhere always pays for those less fortunate that cannot afford to pay. That is what living in a decent society is all about. I certainly don't object.

Yes, cannot fault the Pension payments at Christmas. Just had our bank statement. December pensions paid on 5/12/18 and January payments paid in on 31/12/18. Don't claim other benefits so don't know when recipients got their payments.

Pensions are paid every 28 days.

Normaly if a month has 31 days in it you will get your pension 3 days early than your last months payment date.

Many benefit claimants were told their last payment in December which was before Christmas would have to last them into new year, they were due another payment just after Christmas. So effectively missed a payment just when they needed it.

But some going from old benefit payments onto new universal credit system have their old benefit stopped instantly then wait 7 weeks or more to get first payment on new system.
