It is OK to keep asylum seekers in detention indefinitely

The High Court has Just found the Australian Government has a legal right to operate offshore detention centres, in a landmark judgement on the case of a Bangladeshi asylum seeker.

Before the decision, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton flagged his intention to send a group of 160 adults, 37 babies and 54 children currently in Australia back to Nauru, should the Government win.

One of the children facing return to Nauru is a five-year-old boy allegedly raped at the detention centre, but Mr Dutton has said he will take concerns from doctors about the boy's welfare into consideration.

I don't know the answer to your question and I don't know the answer to mass economic migration or mass asylum seekers either. It feels like a lot more resources, of every kind - financial, diplomatic, intellectual - are needed to address this worldwide issue. Too big for my brain

No it doesn't the Australian government didn't allegedly rape the child .
Most of these attacks and abuse are done by fellow asylum seekers.
Sadly child abuse is everywhere doesn't mean every country should open its borders.

As we don't know all the facts it is difficult to comment, but there have been a number of child rape cases among these illegal immigrants, in many different countries. If this is something that happens a lot shouldn't we be asking ourselves whether any country wants to accept them, if this is so acceptable to them.
And why the hell was a 5 year old on his own in a detention centre?

Maybe they were, but putting the kid back into the same situattion where it happened previously, is abuse and contrary to the kid's human rights.

Because I, unlike yourself apparently am capable of reading the article Bruce put on here:

Do you know the definition of 'allegedly'?

In fact you don't know anything for sure you are just repeating second hand supposition .

That equally applies to yourself, but then I use my own life experiences to know what is more likely, and if they do send this poor boy back to Nauru as their Court has determined, then, as I have previously pointed out that would be in breach of his human rights by putting him back in an unsafe situation.
