I'm a "Give me a quote for the whole job" type of bloke. Sparky did a good job for us yesterday and sent his invoice by email this morning - £20 less than the quote. V's just paid him by BACs. I'll use him again when necessary and I shall certainly recommend him to anyone that asks if I know a local electrician.

Same here, and when you find a good tradesman like your sparky you hang on to them & look after them.
FYI I did the same with a good electrician when he sorted out a problem and did a few bits to a high standard & at a fair price.
When I called upon him to do a very small job (but one I couldn't do myself) that took him about 30 minutes the lovely bloke didn't even charge me!
