So negotiate all deals after BREXIT. That is what should have been the strategy from day #1.
It made and makes absolutely no sense to give the other party the advantage of obtaining what they want as an encumbrance to getting what you can take simply by declaring what you are going to do.
It also means that the other guy can use it as leverage in getting the best of any deal for him.
It has been the negotiations of insanity.
My guess is that Theresa May and the 1922 Committee acting as her puppetmeister were playing it long in order for what they believed would be a change in opinion due to a changed demography (older people who were pro BREXIT dying) and then a second referendum which the THOUGHT would reverse the result.
This whole thing could have been avoided if that incredibly STUPID woman had simply invoked article 50 the moment that the referendum result was known.
Moreover democracy is "all about" a decision based on a majority unless a precondition was in place such as requiring a two thirds majority or some such.
In this case it was not. It was a simple majority.
