Tuesday (Winter Solstice)

Is the Winter Solstice (a day late), but then there is only 95 days to the clock change, but what the heck, who's counting.

Re: Tuesday (Winter Solstice)

There is a hamlet near here with an ancient oak tree . It is a place beloved of the Druids where the borders of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire converge.
The oak tree plays an important part in the Solstice festivities and is adorned with trinkets

I am always glad to see the winter solstice and another year turning

I think it's to do with an Imperial year being 365.2789614 days.

It varies from year to year
The shortest day of the year often falls on December 21st, but the modern calendar of 365 days a year - with an extra day every four years - does not correspond exactly to the solar year of 365.2422 days.
The solstice can happen on December 20, 21, 22 or 23, though December 20 or 23 solstices are rare.
The last December 23 solstice was in 1903 and will not happen again until 2303.

It's a wonder it's not been blamed on CO2 and man induced climate change.

Of course it is. What else can it be?
The 21st is the shortest day, always has been and always will so there.
