Old clothes DO last!!

As I was getting dressed yesterday I suddenly realised the top I was putting on was 25 years old.

I remember the day I bought it off Benidorm Market. It's still going strong & I wear it often.

Somehow it has survived where other much newer stuff has long been been sent to the charity shop.

So - what are your oldest wearable garments?

A pic of you wearing it would be nice but not expected.

Re: Old clothes DO last!!

Lovely top, Carol! (Nice hair too, btw). My oldest item was a pair of jeans that I wore for years and years. I sewed them up, patched them and still wore them. Soft and comforting they were. Sadly their demise came when I decided (in a state of wine induced creativity, I might add), to sew the inside seam up near the crotch with a heart and the word LOVE on it. It was completely innocent on my part until the next morning and it occurred to me that perhaps I shouldn't wear them again. *ahem*

Mountain & Liquid Blue tee shirts, they are works of art, I have many going back to the 80's, sadly those are too small now, but I still kept them. I have lots & I buy a couple every year. The sizes have gone up some what though.

Carol, these jackets are at least 15 yrs old, I have a tiny frame, but my bust is big, so I can never find a jacket, that I can button up, so very annoying!!

With that black check one, I am breathing in!..otherwise the poppers will burst open,

I had a favourite pair of Jeans for years, the zip broke, the knees wore through, just kept wearing them, had to admit defeat though, when the crotch collapsed.

Re: Old clothes DO last!!

I have a black blazer that I bought almost 30 years ago in C & A. I didn't wear it very much and it is still quite new looking.

I had to go to a funeral 5 or 6 years ago and was stuck with what to wear. Looking through my wardrobe I saw the blazer and thought "should I?". I tried it on and was surprised to see it still looked quite smart ..... as long as I didn't try to fasten the buttons!

I still have it and would still wear it when suitable. A blazer is a blazer and they were back in fashion the last time I was able to venture in a clothes shop!

Re: Old clothes DO last!!

I bought this light weight embroidered jacket about 26 years ago. It was a designer's sample and I got it for a song. This photo was taken 4 years ago at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland. It is still in my closet, looking just fine, and I wear it about twice a year. One of my favorites! I'll never part with it, and it fits just fine.
