Cheques

When was the last time you wrote a cheque?

Do people still write cheques?

For us it was about 3 years ago, in fact I don't know where my cheque book is .. probably in the safe.

Re: Cheques

Takes me about 2 years to fill a cheque book.
Yes, I still write cheques, mainly at birthday times.
I also get cheques if i've paid for something, and someone owes me money for their share, e.g holidays, theatre tickets.

Re: Cheques

Day before yesterday, washing machine repairman didn't take cards and I didn't have enough cash in the flat. Previous to that July 2010 another washing machine repair by the looks of the stub.

Re: Cheques

I still use them occasionally for tradesmen like the TV aerial and the heating repair man who requested payment in that form.
Other than that I don't use them .

Re: Cheques

I still use them sometimes and last cheque I used was last week - someone in Spain needed to be paid and then I found that the bank transfer, that they preferred to be paid by, was going to cost me around £25! I've sent them a cheque - I don't mind the transfer fees if they pay them but why should I pay it!

Re: Cheques

Hi again everyone. We last used a cheque about 25 years ago. Too many fees involved. We also disconnected our land line, traded down to a smaller car and got rid of most credit cards. Life has never been simpler.

Re: Cheques

I find there are still situations where a cheque is easier, quicker and useful Like most people here it's only now and again but still handy. I've no idea what it costs me but I don't care as it suits me to have a cheque book as well as a credit card.

Cheques are still important, to those wishing to buy time.
