Rarely for sport - but because in both cases ("dingos" and roos), their numbers have exploded into plague proportions which threaten the environment and the sustainability of other species.

Dingoes have bred with wild dogs.
They kill sheep, calves, goats, pigs, other native species and even the occasional child !

There are far, far, far more kangaroos in this country than there are people.

Even the millions of predatory feral cats cannot slaughter quite enough joeys to control the numbers.
Although, they do wreak havoc on koalas and a whole heap endangered birds and other creatures.
I'm sort of sensing double standards here. It's ok as a human predator to shoot a NATURAL population of roos, but not tolerable that feral cats are predators?

No 'double standard' at all, mate.

There are just under 100 sub-species of roo in this country.
SIX can be legally shot - because they are in plague proportions and in no way under threat.
Indeed, culling provides distinct environmental benefits and threatens no other species.

For the umpteenth time, feral cats are NOT "natural" predators in this environment because they are an introduced species from which native fauna have no instinctive defence.
Several are now actually extinct solely because of the cats and a number more are under severe threat from that same introduced predator.

It is no different from throwing a bunch of lions into a school yard and then saying that the end-result is OK because it is just "natural".
