Hi Alan, thanks for posting I am leaning towards a one off soil test as I spent 2013 extensively remodeling both front and back gardens so soil structure has changed and light and shade areas have moved as a result. Hopefully by the end of this year I will be like you and have it all under control [ fingers crossed]
