Thank you so much for such a laugh on this dull day, sorry for your predicament though.

We shouldn't laugh at other peoples misfortunes - but that was sooooo funny.

Well done that man! A fantastic story which made me laugh all right.

I read it out to my big pussy cat Lucky and she just yawned, prefers to take on squirrels Good luck with your ongoing battle with yon rodent.

Re: My garden today

I will admit to having a sneaking regard for Monty although I am not altogether sure that it is because the halflings ( the grandkids ) have worn me down with their pleas for clemency for the little fella. Suffice it to say for the time being I have not foreclosed on his option to breathe but plans are in place for the construction of the siege engines.

In any event now that the warmer weather is here there is much more to see and do and I cannot really blame Reepicheep for the casualties of the cruel winter we have endured.

It is not really his fault that the 'specialist' sweet peas which were hidden within the aptly named 'cold frame' are bereft of all life and have joined the choir invisible. Nor did he have any effect on the pathetic looking overwintered wallflowers, that on shaking from their slumber, raised their frost ravaged limbs to the watery sun in the vain hope she would make her countenance to shine upon them only to be denied.

However, in the midst of all this gloom and tales of destruction we are blessed. Joy of joys, we have a pair of great tits ducking and diving, making out and visiting one of the nest boxes, yes gentle reader, in the box, not near it, on it or in the next field.

No deficit reduction or fiscal stimulus required here, no MFI, IKEA or Land Of Leather needed, just a few feathers, pilfered fibre from an old hanging basket liner, moss and a little general greenery.

They have it seems chosen our tiny little garden for their nursery as a home for the next miracle of nature and we are truly rewarded.

Good to see you again Mother, happy days are here again.

Stop press:
A staff meeting and sing song from one of our watchtowers.
