Re: Meanwhile In Germany ...

There seems to be a contrast between German key media which keep painting a picture of inability, chaos, dissonance OTOH and people's views OTOH. I have different stats saying that 81% of the Germans were in favour of the EU at the end of last year, published two months ago. That's an increase of 5 percent compared to the previous year. 72% are also optimistic about the EU's future and expect a fast economic recovery.

There are, however, radically anti-EU (not just Eurosceptic) forces who are gathering in a party (AfD) and who, for the first time, made Gexit part of their election programme for the General elections in September at their recent party convention this month. It remains to be seen how successful they will be with that revised programme.

THE EUROPEAN UNION'S hopes of wiping out Britain as an economic competitor have failed, with a top German business lobbyist revealing that firms across the EU are "lining up to invest in Britain".

Brussels has been humiliated after European Union businesses look to invest in Britain instead of the continent, according to one top German business lobbyist. Ulrich Hoppe, director-general of the German-British Chamber of Industry & Commerce, told The Telegraph that many firms in Germany are turning their focus from the EU to Britain. Julian Jessop, an economist at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), told talkRADIO that the outlook for the UK is "looking pretty good, particularly when compared to the EU".
