Now here is an ethical problem: let us assume the UK and the EU are "no friends" (posted her some times). Being so glad to be completely cut off the EU, how could it then be possible to agree contracts with former EU-members. Of course the frogs and the krauts are out of the question. But the others? They are still ex-EU...

So PWC sat the EU needs the UK.
Goldman Sachs sees so much potential that they decide to expand in the UK.
And even German business wants to invest in the UK.

But a very few determined EUrophile keyboard warriors think that all these are wrong and they - they alone - are right?

You are making the age-old mistake of assuming that what the EU says goes for all 27 member countries.
It only exceedingly rarely does.
Most of the time there is disagreement and how much obviously depends upon what exactly you are considering.

In fact it is a rare thing for the 27 to agree upon anything of significance when it comes to details, as recent history makes very clear.
That's why the EU are so glacially slow at pretty much everything.

Easy! They still have their big nephews the americans, their former "slaves" in the colonies. And besides, before brexit the british were told the whole world would be knocking on their door, begging for trade deals. That may still happen, if you just wait long enough......

Re: Brussels Needs Britain, Says PwC

The average of growth forecasts collected by the Treasury this month was 5.7 per cent, a big jump from the average of 4.7 per cent in March. If the 19 City and independent economists are right, growth this year will be the fastest in 33 years. JP Morgan, Oxford Economics and Bloomberg Economics expect an even swifter recovery, with growth of 7 per cent or more, which would be the quickest economic advance in the postwar era.

This is why Brussels and our resident EUrophiles are screeching.

Yes it's from The Times so you might not be able to read it all.
But lots of media sources are saying pretty much the same things so if you can't read this but want more, read one of them.

Hm, ok but IIRC the potential gain for UKs GDP of a US-UK trade deal was estimated at around 1% by the British treasury wasn't it?

(Something off-topic: at school I learned that when writing, it is "was not" and not "wasn't", still it is quicker to write, so I apologize)

And the Indian-UK deal will entail free movement, is that desired by the UK?

I think that does not solve the ethical problem, should there be one.

But for the ecological footprint that india deal is important! Now all those indians, pakistani etc living in britain have to travel to visit their family. A lot of air travel. With that deal in effect all the family members can go to the UK to live there. Saves enormous amount of travel.

People travel all over the world for many reasons. If you want to really avoid travel, then.... don't travel
