What's happening with BREXIT !!

Silence on all fronts !!
I have even tried contacting Frosties office for some info ?
BUT only got a standard out of date official statement that
basically repeated a previous DEFRA statement l had received
a few weeks earlier ?
Now l cannot find any brexit info to cover the time since the EU
ratified the TCA !!
Does this mean we are OUT?
OR does it mean Boris has surrendered against Frosties wishes ??

Something fishy is going on? (pun intended!)

Re: What's happening with BREXIT !!

Nothing is happening with Brexit at the moment as far as I can tell. There is a lot of back and forth with the UK - Australia trade deal, which looks like it will be another climb down by Boris if signs it up with a clause to limit zero tarrifs and quotas over a 15 year period.

if that happens, we may as well have stayed in the EU because quite frankly, its to their benefit if he does and not ours. It also means we will not be deregulating from EU rules ... another blow to Brexit.

This new socialist Conservative party is quickly becoming a disaster.

Boris has always said , ( just like Teresa May, remember her ?) that
he wanted deal, but was prepared to walk away ?
Well, he lied, just like Teresa May !!
Now is the time to walk away, but the silence is deafening ??
We have been shafted !!

He needed a deal and settled for the Irish Protocol and Fisheries, not fully understanding the implications. The only way to sort this out is to tear up the TCA and walk away before its too late.

We should sign up with Australia for zero tariffs and zero quotas trade deal with immediate effect and implement the 2020 Fisheries Act in full.

Then stick two fingers up at the commission, deregulate our financial sector, lower VAT and lower corporation tax.

I see on RT TV tonight, the EU have warned there is NO alternative
to the NI protocol !!
Seems they are determined to force it through come what may ??
Unfortunately for us, we gave Boris a mandate to GET BREXIT DONE
and the Tory party is more interested in party unity than in the
countries well being?
Have you noticed how ALL the Tory Brexiteers have shut up
since Boris signed THE DEAL ??
Where is Farage when we need him ??

Exactly. We voted for Brexit. We were given BRINO.

As far as I'm concerned, Boris has sold us out. Unless he makes amends and obtains a true Brexit before 2024, my vote will go elsewhere.

Unfortunately, from what I hear - or what I don't hear - most people don't seem to give a toss. If that's really the case, we appear to be stuck with the EU.

We desperately need a new leader.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Nigel Farage would have taken us out of the EU without any strings attached.
People were too scared to vote for him, so I'm afraid that people will have to live with their mistake.

I have to disagree with the last bit of your post JBR?
I will have to live with the other people's mistake !!
I was set to vote for Nigel but he removed 50% of his candidates
from the vote, and denied me my vote ?
Hence the "red wall" landslide result !!
Never trust a Tory again ??

The truth of this has been discussed many times.

Boris convinced Nigel to withdraw his candidates to avoid splitting the vote and allowing Compo into government.

A perfectly simple and genuine reason for Nigel standing down.

I too was intending to vote for Nigel, but I can understand the genuine reasons for him standing down. Compo forming a government would have been a total disaster for the UK and we would all have regretted it for longer than his four year tenure because the damage he would have done in that time would have impacted on us for many more years thereafter.

The fact that Boris backed out of a true Brexit afterwards is quite a different matter.

Re: What's happening with BREXIT !!

The EU are of course acting like a bullying bunch of @rse holes because everything has gone so well for them with Brexit.
They are obviously ecstatic; we can all see that.

Nigh on fifty years of creeping integration.
Almost five years just to get to the stage of separation following a referendum.
And some people honestly think that everything could be agreed and implemented in a mutually-satisfactory manner so soon?

Whether or not the government's tactics prove effective only time will tell but certainly regarding NI it does appear that our position is a strong one.
The EU cannot reasonably claim to have the best interests of the Irish at heart with their current stance.
But as with the rest, time will tell.
As I've said before: I would rather these things take time and get properly resolved that see the EU's usual practice of perpetual can-kicking.

BTW I see that the Swiss have officially called their talks with the EU regarding further integration off, which is no great surprise.
The EU's tactics aren't working there either.

Well the Swiss seem to have more sense than us then ??
You have just listed all the reasons we need to walk away !!
Let's GTF OUT !
The Tory party have never intended to to GET BREXIT DONE , the
few tories that did have now completely shut up regarding brexit?
I suppose the the rest of the party have intimidated them into
keeping quiet ??
There is talk of getting rid of Boris over covid, but imo it's no good
just getting rid of Boris over that, the whole Tory party should be
dumped over failing with brexit??
As l have often said before,. " brexit ain't over yet !!" .
