Re: 'The Zoo'

I've watched it and enjoyed it. I visited Chester zoo some years ago and liked it there.

Re: 'The Zoo'

Another new series I am hooked on. Have never been to Chester Zoo, our local is Paignton, but if I ever get the chance to go to Chester I will go. Lovely to find out how it all started.
I have a pal who goes all the time. She loves that zoo.

I too have mixed feelings about zoos. I don't like the idea of animals being caged up for the entertainment of we humans, on the other hand they do a lot for conservation I believe.

I don't think you'll find many animals 'caged' in zoos these days, Alan. Zoos have improved greatly over the years with more open spaced areas a accommodate the larger animals

I agree Mags, though I did see evidence of a few large cats (especially the cheetah) pacing round and round their enclosure on my recent visit. I'd have preferred that they have room to 'sprint', as is their normal behaviour.

The problem London Zoo has is that they cannot expand outwards like countryside based zoos can, and have to make do with what space they have. An under used area is the section that used to house the bears. Goodness knows what they plan to do with it!

Re: 'The Zoo'

I wonder how much space a big cat would need to do that and if captivity would they use it ? I went to a wolf sanctuary a few years ago and they were saying even when they provided the most space they could the wolves chose not to use the entire enclosure.
