100 year old Driving school

On ITV now.

Its the funniest programe full of ancient feisty old drivers who are taking voluntary assessment.

One old bloke is a 102 and he lives in Wiltshire ( not too near me i hope )

But he passed ( more or less ) .

They were lovely old people too so full of life spirit.

Are the examiners bribed?

Half of them, as nice as they are, shouldn't cross the road let alone drive on it.

Re: 100 year old Driving school

My daughter and her husband have just stopped his 93 year old father from driving. He had a new car and within three years it needed a new clutch fitting. The final straw was when he swiped a woman's car taking off her wing mirror. When the woman approached him he told her he hadn't got time to talk to her as he was going to the supermarket where he had left his wallet.

I wanted to watch this, and forgot it was on.

Is it a series, or just a one off?

Re: 100 year old Driving school

Tonight they have just shown a lady of 105 and still driving !!!

She is one of only 8 people in the UK over 100 yrs old who still have a driving licence.

Just waiting to see if she passes or not ..........

I must say it makes me wonder how safe some of them are Eliza.
We are seeing some using walking frames to get to their car, so how would their legs respond on the pedals in an emergency stop?

I can fully understand why they don't want to give up their licence though, I think I'd feel just the same. It's sad.

Re: 100 year old Driving school

I dont drive so ive no idea how they feel at letting it go .
My FIL use to say his feet were numb when he was driving , we tried very hard to get him to give it up, he eventually did but not before he had an accident .
Ive often seen a driver struggle to walk and even fall over cause they dont have balance , get in a car and drive off but first go up onto the curb and bounce off .
.
