Bloody hell, l thought you'd emigrated Solly!!
I wont say welcome back, but, you have been missed definitely !!You know fishing rights ALWAYS belong to the country involved in selling
them, and must be renewed annually so the buyer only takes out a
lease for the year for his money.
Now you will be evicted if you dont agree new terms !!

Quite so. But, suppose I sell you my car, which I held dear for may years, because my wife has a much better car. After a few years she leaves me and I again neeed a car.
Then I knock on your door and tell you, "that car has always been mine. I want it back". Don't you think you will remind me of the sale?

I remember we were required to sign up to an over complicated
system called the CFP in order to belong to this 'free' trading bloc
called the EEC, Under this agreement the eu undertook to administer
ALL the members fishing business!
The rest is history as they say !!
BTW. What is £6 billion times 40?? kiss my arse!!

You must distinguish between fishing rights and quota.
The UK got the right to fish on species X,Y and Z in EU waters, the EU got the right to fish on species A, B and C in UK waters. UK govrrnment gave these rights to their fishingmen (companies).
Subsequently each year the total catch was determined for all countries.
For some species, for which english fishermen held the right to fish, the allowable catch was zero (for fish stocks to replenish). When EU fishcompanies came along, prepared to pay handsomely for those rights with no quota, fishermen were eager to sell. It was a sale between private people/companies, so of course you haven't seen them in the news, and can not remember.

When after a decade the EU policy of replenishment paid of and fish stocks were abundent, those EU fishermen with fishing rights which now got quota to catch, had a bonanza. And the english got jealous. Not blaming their own shortsighted decision to sell, but blaming the EU fishermen who had gambled and won big time.

It is easy to understand that those fishing rights now constitute a much bigger value. Buying back will cost, unless your government is going to steal them.

It looks as if we will get them back by stealth over time like you lot
did Solly from what l see so far?
I have allready explained how a countries rights CANNOT be
owned by an indivinual or company or any other entity!
And so cannot be sold unless the population agree to it!
If there was such an agreement l am sure the eu would allready
have disclosed it dont you??
I agree some of our fishermen and most of our political classess
did sell us out in several ways but now is the time to put much of
it right again and ensure that the dry land fishermen dont get a look
in again !!

In your view your country, the UK, has the right to fish in UK waters. I don't see a fleet of fishingboats owned by the british government, catching all the fish in british waters.
That right to fish is sold by the government to fishermen, companies, who then hold the right to fish. Since they bought that right, they can sell it on.

Your argumentation is wrong donks. Sorry.
