A bit premature, those french actions. Reciprocal fishing ends on 31 december 2020. Or are these french afraid the english will deplete stocks?

In this instance the english boats were fishing in french waters. French restrain from scallop fishing to let stocks replenish. They regard the english fishers as poachers.
You are right of course, those english should keep out of french waters.....but only after 31 december 2020.

Interesting. It took 20 Frog boats to attack 2 British ones.

If even numbers, or even two to one in their favour, I'm sure they would have turned tail and fled.

Good heavens! The Sun's spelling is even worse than the Daily Mail!

As for where we (and they) fish, yes, we should keep out of their waters BUT they don't seem too worried about fishing in our waters AND with supertrawlers vacuuming up everything there is.

The most annoying thing is the Frogs throwing oil on to our boats and then firing flares at them, with the obvious intention of setting them on fire. That's almost tantamount to an act of war and is completely unacceptable.

My feeling is that if our government will not provide any sort of protection by the RN, we need to protect ourselves. If Greenpeace can do it - and they have - then we, too, can act independently of our weak government.

Your government doesn't care about fishing. They are much surprised that brexiters have made it such an important issue.

It seems the english are going to ruin the british fishing grounds.

Melissa Moore, head of UK policy at the conservation group Oceana, said: “It’s a sad day for UK fisheries as the bill will enable overfishing to continue as there is no deadline or clear duty to fish sustainably. This is bad news for fishermen as more stocks will be at risk of collapse, bad news for coastal communities and bad news for the public who love fish suppers.”

She said the bill weakened protections that the UK had under the EU, which has a*deadline to phase out overfishing*this year. “The UK government’s rhetoric that it would develop ‘gold standard’ fisheries management is a joke,” she said.

Within the EU there is disbelief at Macron's stance.
"The Handelsblatt asks how he can expect to perpetuate a regime in which French trawlers are entitled to 84pc of the catch off Cornwall while Cornish fishermen are left with just 9pc. It marvelled at a relationship where European boats can come to within six nautical miles of the British coast while British boats must abide by the EU’s 12-mile rule."
