I’ve got a stonking cold at the moment as well. Thankfully it’s not flu and I’m managing to work, but it feels like a bag of cement in my chest and coughing feels like it’s cutting me in two
Hope you feel better soon Norway
Missy keep warm and drink plenty water , hope you get better soon
Drink plenty of milk to hydrate. Milk, chicken soup, rest. That's all you can do. I had it six years ago and it was a really vicious strain. I even ended up in A&E dehydrated. I've been having the jab ever since.
In terms of the vaccine, the WHO recommends which strains to include. Because it's made months in advance they can't always cover the most prevalent, but it should reduce the severity of anything you do catch because your body is already prepared for something similar.
Milk always increases my mucus production so I always advice avoiding it if you have a cold or flu or chesty cough. It just makes matters worse for me so I assumed it would for most people.

I agree with you Julie1962...milk does tend to produce more mucus and phlegm... But, fruit juices and water...help to keep you hydrated, which is so important when you're sick...
We both have it now , coughing , aches , . now a week. managed to take the paper bin down this morning on the back of the car, snowed again last night.
