The Poets got it right?

Some historical Poetic lines which might be appropriate for present times:-

1) "All the World's a Stage - and all the men and women merely players"

So the MPs are on the stage - and we have to watch.

2) "Into the valley of Death rode the six hundred..."

A bit strong, but fits well with our representation?

There must be more?

Re: The Poets got it right?

W.B.Yeats wrote this a hundred years old this year yet it could have been written yesterday...

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity
.

Had to look up "gyre" but got it now, in a roundabout way!

Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go."

Re: The Poets got it right?

‘Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe

Many wonder exactly what the author intended these words to mean.

I believe that he had in mind the occupants of the House of Commons.

Re: The Poets got it right?

And the poets were so heart breakingly young.
