Re: Fair Warning

It's the hunger pangs and the loud growling stomach that get me.

Re: Fair Warning

Seems a bit of a waste of time though Ruthio. Reducing portion sizes isn't a "life change". It is essentially just another diet, a temporary change. They were told not to change what they ate, just eat less.

This proves nothing except that less calories in of course means you will temporarily lose some weight if you are expending the same amounts of energy as before.

These people are not going to eat small portion sizes the rest of their lives so the experiment is somewhat of a waste of time. If they were going to do that they would have already done it and not been fat in the first place.

What is needed is simple food education so that they can make better food choices, healthier choices, with less sugar, less salt etc. That would be a permanent change.

Of course the BBC (and most other channels) are NOT going to properly take on the sugar manufacturers/conglomerates. Programs about sugar are always pathetically "light" and always fail to highlight the full extent of the problem.

We have a nation of drug addicts and powerful conglomerates acting as the drug peddlers. The class A drug is sugar and 99% of food manufacturers load their products with it because they know it fools the brain into thinking the products are tasty and enjoyable so people will buy more.

Anyone who wants to lose weight must first tackle the sugar addiction and get sugar put of their life. If they don't do this, all their efforts will be in vein.

Re: Fair Warning

All of these CELEBRITY “diets” are doomed to fail in the end.

Like Sadie Thompson in the short story by Somerset Maugham. IF you’ve read it you’ll know that she was a prostitute who a missionary was trying to save. There was a short success and her loud record player was silenced.
Alas the missionary was weak & pretty soon he fell almost at the first post & she went back to her calling, whereas he fell from his.

Call me cynical but I hold out little hope for anyone wanting a quick fix, it takes guts and determination, plus control over your biggest detractor, namely yourself.

I have lost 4 stone over 4 years, but I was over 18 stone, quite big to start with an I hope to lose 2 more,
