internet connection

Just been and bought a new Wireless USB adaptor to connect to the router. My old one kept dropping down to a slow connection speed and not made for windows 10 and USB3 port

I don't know if it is just imagination or down to better signal strength but going onto you-tube the videos look clearer. Anyway so far the signal strength hasn't dropped apart from local area usage.

Re: internet connection

Presumably you mean the adapter is for your PC/laptop so you can connect to your broadband via the router.

If you were getting slow speeds and drop outs that's likely to have been your actual broadband rather than the wireless adapter inside your laptop. A new adapter should improve the wireless transmission slightly but you'll still see drop outs if it was a broadband issue.

I've also been having problems with my wifi signal dropping out Realspeed.
I'm using this new laptop with windows 10. It dropped off line this morning and I thought it was my internet provider, but turning on my old laptop proved that the internet connection was fine. I don't think the receiver in the new laptop is up to the job, either that or microsoft are interfering with windows 10.

I am reasonably sure that Youtube varies the quality of the video according to the quality of your connection so undoubtedly you are getting better quality videos. Your eyes are not deceiving you.

Also don't forget that fibre optic broadband is still rolling out. You can bet that if it's rolling out to your area they will be tweaking your existing broadband performance to make you want something faster and more stable.

The new wireless adaptor sorted out the slow internet, my wifes computer was always up to speed. Fibre cable we could have had that if we wanted a long time ago but the speed we already get suits us.
The old dongle only was for USB2 ports and made according to the disc in 2012 so it was 6 years ago.

I built my own desktop computer, non of this cheap component shop bought rubbish. Hand picked the Best and built with photography in mind . To get one built to my spec would have been astronomical in comparison and well outside my budget. Now I can update each component as and when needed, last update I did was the Graphics card . Took 3 months to decide on getting components having to choose the best of the best within budget for each

original build cost in 2012 was £1200 for parts, Shop build would have been a lot more as it would have had to be a special build.

Since then added/replaced/ RAM up to16 gb- silent wave cooling fans(3) - quiet CD/DVD drive- 500gb SSD drive- graphics card - sound card- more USB3 ports-second HDD drive-750w Power Unit.
So the computer is always being kept up to date

With a shop bought one you don't know what is in it, usually the cheapest bits unreplaceable.

easier to replace a wi- fi adaptor if plugged into a USB port which is what I did the other day

Just last week I was helping a friend set up his desktop for a new fibre connection via a wireless router (previously he had a 4G connection).

His computer used a USB wifi dongle and was running Windows XP, it was more a test of (my) memory than anything else.
