Grammatical query.

Hi. My query is where to put the full stop when using quotation (and other grammatical) marks. I was brought up to believe that the full stop/question mark etc should be kept within the quotes.

Thus
"dooby dooby doo." is correct, whereas "dooby dooby do". is incorrect.

Advice from the wise would be welcome.

That appears to confirm what I do.

If it is a direct quotation, I would place the full stop after the final quotation mark.

The matter seems to be discussed at length here:

"Oh, I say!"

That's very kind of you, but I really don't consider myself an expert.
