And the full stop comes after the quote because it's marking the end of the sentence.

No, "I'd still place the full stop after the quotation mark".

However, I'd agree if the quote IS the entire sentence.

"I'd place the full stop, in that case, before the quotation mark."

Gawd! I tend to go with the flow when typing quotes. More than often I put the full stop before the quote, but often I am lazy and put it after the quote. I know I should do it correctly but at an age now where I don't care.
