Please don't forget to donate

Our charities have had most of their fundraising functions cancelled for the foreseeable future. Please keep donating if that's you have always done in the past. They need these donations to keep going. Thank you.

I don't donate to any charities. They are all now money making businesses especially the big ones.

Re: Please don't forget to donate

I had a conversation a few years back with someone who works for a charity. He told me that thy are allowed to use a maximum of 40% of monies raised for admin/advertising/shops/storage/transportation etc purposes, which means that the majority of one's donations are still being spent on those that actually need it.

Therefore, it's worth keeping on with donations.

And you believed that? There's a great many ways that cash gets filtered off easy before a single penny gets to those in real need, trust me. It's a bit like "not for profit organisations".

Psst, wanna buy a battleship?

As I was saying. In an ideal world charities helping the research into so many crippling and killer diseases would never be needed, but unfortunately they are urgently needed. Fundraising functions for Cancer Research UK and The British Heart Foundation to name but two of the hundreds out there will be very much down on their donations this year due to the cancellation or postponement of a great many of their organised activities.

I have 3 charities I donate to: The Samaritans (they helped me a lot in the past), The Sally Army, and our local hospice.

Re: Please don't forget to donate

Thanks Muddy & Percy. My two are The British Heart Foundation & Cancer Research UK. Unfortunately the Fun Run for Cancer Research has been cancelled for this coming June as have a great many others including the London Marathon.
